While stopped at a red light on 5th Avenue and somewhere around 30th Street, a woman in her late 40's possibly 50's with long red hair asked if I lived near Commerce Street. Two of her friends are renovating a brownstone next to the Cherry Lane Theatre and she saw the bike there. "It's so charming, so beautiful," she said, "you must be an artist." Being referred to as an artist brought tears to my eyes, "how sweet of her," I thought.
