I KNOW YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT

As I was leaving Doma yesterday there was a women on her cell phone she was crying, I didn't know what she was crying about or who she was talking to. When she finshed the call, I asked her if she was okay. I went out on a limb by asking (I often have this impulse to reach out to people that I see are hurting and often sit on that impulse) and I expected what I deemed as the typical NY brush off of a response of "oh no, I'm fine." But this women without hesitation said "no." I asked if her if she wanted a hug and she said "yes". I hugged her tight and I cried too. After our embrace I looked into her eyes and said I don't know what you are going through but I DO know you you WILL get through it, that I know for certain. It may not be easy but you will get through it. She smiled through her tears and said "I know." I didn't even get her name, then again it didn't seem to matter.
